Synchron employee Joe Laville, an Expeditionary Warfare Senior Analyst with OPNAV N81, was invited by PMS 377 to be an observer for LHA 7 (PCU TRIPOLI) builder’s sea trials. LHA 7 is optimized for aviation and capable of supporting the tilt-rotor MV-22 and the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The “big deck” amphibious assault ship got underway from Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS, and conducted various tests to demonstrate the ship’s readiness for delivery and seaworthiness. While in a previous position with Synchron, Mr. Laville helped to determine capability requirements for the ship class, so this experience was especially gratifying for him to see the end stages of the acquisition process and the ship underway and performing well.
